dentist newbridge kildareNervous patients
We welcome all patients including those of you who are extremely nervous and fearful of dentists and dental treatment!

We make every effort to make your visit with us to be as gentle as possible with you in control at all times.

Everyone thinks they must be the worst patient!
– 99% chance you are not!

Here are some tips that might help.
1. Book a pre-appointment just to discuss your concerns. This will give you a chance to meet the dental team and feel comfortable in your new surroundings.

2. Pick an appointment time when you will be most relaxed and not rushing. First appointment of the day for some can suit as little waiting around, but if not a morning person or have a busy morning (eg, school drop-offs etc.) a later time perhaps last appointment might suit better when the day is quieter.

3. Don't act tough. 70% of our patients come to us with real apprehension, so we have seen it all and are well experienced at comforting you. Bring a friend/family member to be with you.

4. If you lose your tongue, write down your questions beforehand. Or ring us when you get safely home and let us know any of your concerns.

5. Have a safety button/signal. Discuss with us a pre-agreed signal when to stop or get a further explanation. This gives you control over the treatment.

6. Get treatment explained. This is not always for everyone as some prefer to shut their eyes and know nothing. But it can help to be explained and shown what is coming next and so be prepared.

7. Bring music and/or shades. This can help to distract from the sounds and sights around you. Don't forget to give yourself a pat on the back. Your fears are real and overcoming them is a huge achievement.

We take great pride in treating all of our patients with the utmost respect and professionalism you deserve. If your visit with any of us was not as you wished, please let another member of our team know so we can keep the high standards we have set for ourselves.
